Ingredients

Ingredients: Avocado & Sunflower oils infused with (Symphytum officinale Comfrey), (Calendula officinalis), Achillea millefolium (Yarrow), raw cacao butter, beeswax. Contains no petroleum & no essential oils; meaning our tattoo salve is gentle enough for even the most freshly inked skin.

Suggested Dosage

Suggested Use: With clean hands, scoop a pea-sized amount. Warm between fingers until it liquefies. Apply to cleaned tattoo. This concentrated formula is designed to last your entire dermal recovery. Pro tip: less is more! A thin layer allows the skin to oxygenate. Reapply 2-3x daily, or anytime the skin becomes tight and itchy.

Contraindications & Safety.

For best results, allow your new art to 'breathe' for the first 48 hours. Once the initial weeping has subsided and the skin begins to feel tight or dry (usually Day 3), begin applying a very thin layer of Ink Guard 2–3 times daily for deep dermal support.

  • Phase 1: The Protective Seal (Hours 0–24)

    • What’s Happening: Your tattoo is fresh, "weeping" plasma, and extremely vulnerable. Your focus is protection and hygiene.

    • The Routine: Leave the initial bandage/wrap on for the time your artist recommended (usually 2–6 hours for traditional wrap, or 3–5 days for "second skin" like Saniderm).Once removed, gently wash the area with warm water and a mild, unscented, antibacterial soap. Gently Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Do not scrub. If you used traditional wrap: Wash 2–3 times daily. Keep the tattoo clean and mostly dry.

    • Can I use Ink Guard? Not yet. If your skin is still oozing plasma, an oil-based salve can trap bacteria and heat.
  • Phase 2: The Dry/Tight Phase (Days 2–3)

What’s Happening: The initial weeping has stopped. The tattoo begins to feel tight, warm, and slightly itchy. Your body is forming a super-fine protective layer.

    The Routine:

Continue gentle washing 2 times a day.

Your primary goal is to prevent heavy scabbing.

Can I use Ink Guard? This is the transition phase: If your tattoo still feels "wet" or is actively weeping, wait one more day.

If it feels dry, tight, or begins to flake, you may begin applying a micro-thin layer of Ink Guard. Remember, less is more! A thin layer allows vital oxygenation.

  • Phase 3: The Peeling & Regeneration Phase (Days 4–14+)

    • What’s Happening: The "burn" is gone. Your tattoo will likely begin to peel (like a sunburn) and become intensely itchy. This is the critical window for dermal support.

    • The Routine: DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH. Peeling skin that is pulled off prematurely can take ink with it. Wash gently once a day.

    • Can I use Ink Guard? Yes! This is where Ink Guard shines. Apply a thin layer 2–3 times daily, or whenever the tattoo feels tight or itchy. The Comfrey, Calendula, and Yarrow work synergistically to soothe the itch, prevent heavy scabbing, and maintain the skin’s elastic integrity as it regenerates.

Sunflower oil.

Quick Benefits:

  • Excellent Emollient: It's rich in Linoleic Acid (an Omega-6 fatty acid), which helps the skin maintain its natural moisture barrier and prevents dehydration.
  • Rich in Vitamin E: As a powerful antioxidant, Vitamin E helps protect the skin from environmental stressors and supports overall skin health.
  • Non-Comedogenic: It's a lightweight oil that is highly absorbent and generally won't clog pores, making it suitable for most skin types, including acne-prone skin.
  • Soothing: It has anti-inflammatory qualities that can help calm dry, sensitive, or irritated skin. Perfect for those seasonal transitions that dry out the skin during autumn and winter transitions.

Avocado Oil

deep-reaching carrier rich in oleic acid and vitamins A, D, and E; it mirrors the skin’s natural sebum to provide profound moisture without clogging pores.

Comfrey

Rich in native allantoin, this "knit-bone" classic is utilized to support the skin’s natural regenerative rhythm and encourage healthy dermal cohesion during the initial recovery phase.

Calendula

premier solar botanical prized for its high flavonoid content; it provides a gentle, cooling touch to soothe the "heat" of fresh ink and maintains a calm, balanced skin environment.

Yarrow

traditional "wound-wort" with tonifying properties that help manage the skin's surface integrity, supporting a clean and dry environment during the critical first 48 hours.

Raw Cacao Butter

A nutrient-dense emollient that creates a flexible, protective "second skin" barrier to shield your art from environmental stressors while offering a hint of natural, earthy aroma.

The Real Thing From The Bee: Beeswax

Unlike petroleum, beeswax is a natural humectant that is 'pro-respiratory.' It provides a protective shield while allowing your skin to breathe—an essential requirement for the delicate dermal recovery of fresh ink.

Beeswax is a biological marvel; it takes the collective energy of a colony consuming 8 lbs of honey to create just 1 lb of wax. We use it to create a breathable, 'living' barrier that protects your art just as it protects the hive.
