wild yam
sapogenins
The earliest recorded use is credited to the Aztecs and Mayans using it as a "woman's herb" for pain relief.
Wild yam was once the source for the chemicals of raw material they used to manufacture contraceptive hormones. However, it is important to note that although the chemical profiles may be similar wild yam cannot convert the sapogenins to sex hormones in the body. Meaning, wild yam will not prevent pregnancy.
Wild yam's benefits were highly prized by the Eclectic Physicians. Often dispensed to their patients to treat uterine pains, nervousness, gastrointestinal irritation.

vodka
solvent
We use six times distilled, organic, certified gluten free Vodka as the solvent to extract the medicinal constituents from wild yam
Vodka is often used in tincture making because it is tasteless, and contains no additional ingredients.
