our favorite oil
We chose unrefined, organic, non-gmo avocado oil as our base in our salves and creams due to its endless nourshing properties.
Avocado oil has been shown to increase collagen synthesis, reduce inflammation, while penetrating the skin's barrier to help retain it's natural moisture.
Avocado oil is derivied from the fruit, not from the seed, making this oil abundant in micro and macro nurtients.
anti-inflammatory
This beautiful flower has been used medicinally since the 1500's, although Saint Hildegard of Bingen (a visionary mystic and nun born in 1098) did mention the use of arnica in her writings.
Arnica may be one of the best herbs for external ailments such as localized pain, inflammation, to even bruises and sprains. Studies show that arnica has immunostimulant properties that stimulate phagocytosis, thus, arnica may be benefical to regain tissue homeostasis.
Arnica contains active constituents (which give arnica is medicinal properties), therefore arnica is not safe to ingest internally.
the little "weed" that could
You may have this medicinal herb growing in your backyard! Did you know this herb is anti-inflammatory, astringent, and analgesic? Plantain supports wound healing by reducing inflammation, blocking microbial growth, reparing damaged tissue, and soothing pain.
allantoin
Allantoin is an active constituent of comfrey. This constituent is highly prized and often used in skin care products to soothe irritation and protect minor cuts, scrapes, and burns.
According to this scientific study, "Allantoin has also been shown to have multiple properties/effects expected to facilitate transition of a wound from an inflammatory to a proliferative state, including antioxidant and antiinflammatory properties, direct antimicrobial effects, and keratolytic activity facilitating wound healing."
warming
Cayenne pepper has been used medicinally for 9,000 years.
Cayenne pepper when applied topically with cooling herbs such as peppermint, sends confusing signals to the pain-transmitters, which may alter pain receptors, and therefore, the pain response.
zechstein sea bed
Our magnesium is formulated in house, meaning our herbalist takes raw flakes of zechstein magnesium chloride and blends it with filtered, non fluoridated, spring water.
Did you know, magnesium is an essential mineral that is required for over 300 physiological processes including, but not limited too nerve conduction, active transport of potassium and calcium and, consequently, regulation of blood pressure and pulse.
Research shows when we are deficent in minerals such as magnesium physical manifestations may appear as (but not limited too) headaches, muscle aches, joint pain, muscle cramps, rest-less legs, and nerve pain.
not just for flavor
Wintergreen essential oil contains an aspirin-like chemical called methyl salicylate. It has effects that might reduce pain and swelling.
warming
A popular remedy 200 BCE. Clove contains the active ingredient eugenol, which is a natural anesthetic. It helps numb and reduce pain. Eugenol also has natural anti-inflammatory properties.
Sun Gold
For the past 2000 years helichrysum has been prized for its medicinal benefits, even how the name was derivied showed how highly our ancestors thought of this herb. Derived from the Greek words helisso(sun) and chrysos(gold).
This beautiful flower is abundant in antioxidants which protect the body from free radicals. These antioxidants also stimulate the production of elastin and collagen two key compounds to having healthy, firm, beautiful skin.
"just like honey baby from the bee"
Our all pain salve is formulated with raw, local beeswax. Beeswax is abundant in vitamin A, making beeswax mositurizing to the skin, while it soothes red, irritated, and inflammed skin.
Did you know that honey bees have a very sophisticated memory for being so tiny? Not only that but, their dedication to their craft, and loyalty to their queen is unmatched.
It takes twelve worker bees to make one teaspoon of honey. With bees having a life expectancy of six to eight weeks. It takes 6 pounds of honey to make one pound of beeswax.
The 1/12 teaspoon of honey in six weeks is worth admiration, considering the very short lifespan of the bees.
