In Sept of 1877 "The Liver of Piacenza" was found. A liver clay model was found in the province of Piacenza. It is a life-sized bronze model of a sheep's liver covered in Etruscan inscriptions. Historians have dated it as far back as the 2nd century.

A liver clay model was also found in Mesopotamia. Historians found inscriptions on a sheep's liver clay model.

The myths of Prometheus and Tityus show us the importance of the liver. Historians believe that ancient cultures did not know the liver could regenerate, but with their dedication to the study of the liver, how they spoke of the liver, and their beliefs of the liver being the center of the soul is admirable.
