Suggested Dosage
10-20 drops 2x daily for coughts
The Herbalist's Recommendation: 5 drops every 15 minutes during a coughing spell. -
Contraindications
Elecampane's traditional use as an emmenagogue, thus it is suggested that elecampane should not be used during pregnancy or lactation.
Diabetics should monitor their blood sugar more closely.
May be toxic in large doses.

Because elecampane is warming and stimulating modern herbalist's reach for elecampane when respiratory distress is deep, cold, and stagnant with bronchial like cough. It is also used as a diaphoretic to promote sweating, which may support a fever naturally.
Elecampane has mild bitter properties, and stimulates the digestive system. Supports the production of bile flow. Research suggests healthy, regular, digestion and elimination, support a strong and resilant immune system all year long.
Elecampane may have antimicrobial, antiinflammatory, and antispasmodic like effections. Therefore this herb may support those experiencing manifestations of damp, cold, bronchial like coughs.
