One more thing...
Making salves can be tricky at clean up time, even for an experienced herbalist; maybe thats why some of us use designated tools for salve making?
If you do not have a designated tool...
Using caution, while your container (the salve was made in,) is still warm, wipe clean with a reusable cloth; (to keep beeswax from going down the drain.) I recommend that you designate a double boiler for making salves, or you could designate a pyrex measuring cup; to making salves; use the 4 cup sized one. Before purchasing from a big box store, consider thrifting a double boiler. I personally enjoy going to thrift stores, or antique shops, and looking for vintage pyrex measuring cups. Suprisingly, they are usually cheaper, and as they saying goes "they sure dont build em' like they use too" applies. :)
